Alyx “Allie” is a graduate of New Mexico State University’s Dance Program under the direction of Debra Knapp.  While there, she performed with Contemporary Dance Theater, NMSU Dancesport and Sol y Arena, a flamenco and classical Spanish company.  Her most exciting adventure was traveling to Spain in the Summer of 2006 to study Flamenco at Amor De Dios studio in Madrid. Allie had her piece In the Nick of Time chosen for the American College Dance Festival (ACDF) in 2008, and 2009 performed in a duet at ACDF that was chosen for the culminating gala (the first NMSU piece to be chosen for that event). She also competed at the collegiate level in various ballroom and Latin styles and has placed first and second in jive, salsa and West Coast swing. Since then, Allie has performed with “Project In Motion”, an aerial arts company based in Las Cruces, NM and most recently with the Salsa performing group “Enigma Dance Project”. Allie moved to Albuquerque in 2010 to pursue her dream job with NDI New Mexico where she’s held many roles for the organization including instructor, choreographer, producer and director. Although teaching children statewide has been her passion for years, she is most excited about her newest and most special student, her daughter, Emiliana.
