Cyann Sena

Albuquerque/Residency Artistic Associate

Cyann began dancing at the age of six at her home studio in Carlsbad, New Mexico, training competitively in ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and ballroom.  She traveled across the United States, performing and competing both as a soloist and as part of a team. Pursuing this passion for dance led to a degree in Performing Arts and Dance Education, which further equipped her with both technical mastery and a deep understanding of dance pedagogy to bring into dance outreach and education settings.

After college, Cyann expanded her horizons internationally, touring Japan with a dance company dedicated to bringing outreach programs to diverse communities, an experience that broadened her global perspective and deepened her belief in dance as a universal language. This global perspective informs her approach to both performance and teaching, fostering creativity, discipline, and connection in every class she leads. Influenced by many mentors in life who have inspired her through numerous dance conventions, classes, and workshops, Cyann continues to learn from artists and educators across the field.

Since 2021, Cyann has been a member of NDI New Mexico, beginning as an Outreach Apprentice and contributing to the After-School Program. Cyann taught Creative Movement and Hip-Hop for both the Young Children’s and Junior/Senior Division, before stepping into her current role as an Albuquerque Outreach/Residency Artistic Associate.

Cyann’s work ethic reflects genuine love for the job and a desire to create meaningful connections. She is deeply passionate about spreading the joy of dance and using movement as a tool for expression, empowerment, and community building. Cyann is committed to fostering artistic growth, building confidence in her students, and making dance accessible and meaningful for all.
