Born into a musical family, Albuquerque native Steve Figueroa began playing the drums at age 9. He then switched to the piano at age 17 and has been playing it ever since.  Steve is largely self-taught.  He has been a fixture on the local New Mexico music scene for many years, band leading and performing in a wide variety of jazz, Latin, and pop music ensembles.  Steve began working with NDI New Mexico in 2002, and has worked steadily in the Albuquerque outreach programs ever since.
