Spring Into Motion at The Dance Barns

About the Performance
The first half features two world premieres:
Rodney Rivera’s new work, It’s Not About Numbers, explores the intergenerational relationship between youth and old age, using humor and a sense of innocence to convey a powerful message about the wisdom that comes with age and the lasting influence of youth.
Francisco Gella, a Santa Fe-based choreographer, will present Swinging through Day and Night, a vibrant piece performed by our most advanced dancers, celebrating friendship, virtuosity, and the joy of creative collaboration.
The second half offers an innovative rendition of the beloved Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, featuring a live orchestral arrangement conducted by Dance Barns Music Director Jessie Wenchieh Lo, alongside creative lighting, costumes, and set designs by our talented artistic team.

About the Performance
A performance featuring Hiland Company Dancers and professional guest artists of Ballere Carmel Moving Stories – Freedom explores a variety of perspectives on what it means to be free, and to embrace and cultivate freedom for all. The evening features work from Layla Amis, Vladimir Conde Reche, Malinda Lavelle, Kevin Iega Jeff, Robin Dekker and guest artist in residence Liliian Barbeito. Professional guest artists of Ballere Carmel – Charmaine Butcher and Babatunji Johnson, will share the stage with the Hiland Company Dancers in this engaging and thoughtful evening of dance.

Come celebrate The Hiland Theater’s 75th birthday with us. This extra-special movie night also includes a sock-hop dance with live music and a 1950’s costume contest. Come rock-and-roll with us and then stick around for the classic ode to the 1950s, Grease!
Think! A Math-Magical Journey – Northern NM End-of-Year Event
March 27 at 6:30 p.m.
The Española Valley High School Gym
Think! A Math-Magical Journey, brings the wonders of math to life for both our dancers and audience. The theme highlights how math is woven into every aspect of our lives, helping us make sense of the world around us. From music and art to science, money, cooking, space, and time—math is everywhere. It’s not just about numbers; it’s about resilience, curiosity, and embracing the journey of learning through math.
Tickets can be purchased at the door before the show on Thursday, March 27. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for ticket sales. Tickets are $5 and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
