“Bite by Bite, Step by Step” invites audiences on a journey of discovery with the talented dancers of The Dance Barns After-School Program.

This year’s showcase is inspired by food. Its flavors, colors, and traditions. Just as a meal tells the story of a place and its people, each dance reveals the rhythm, spirit, and culture from which it was born. Bite by bite, step by step, our dancers travel across continents through movement.

From the vibrant pulse of African dance to the elegance of ballet and the joyful energy of Latin rhythms, every piece is a window into a different corner of the world. Through research, curiosity, and imagination, our students explored the music, landscapes, and traditions that shape these dances.

Like a shared table where cultures meet, dance becomes a place of connection. Along the way, our dancers have built confidence, strengthened teamwork, and discovered the beauty of traditions beyond their own.

Through taste and flavor we begin to know the world.
Through dance we celebrate it.

Young Children’s Division Showcase – April 9 at 6:00 p.m.

Miss Hattie’s Amazing Garden

The Hiland Theater’s Young Children’s Division presents joyous and creative retelling of the book Miss Hattie’s Amazing Garden by Shannon Richardson. These dancers, between the ages of 5 and 8, will show off what they have been learning in this exciting exploration of plants, animals, bugs, and the seasons. Family pre-sale tickets are on sale now. Public tickets go on sale on March 27.

Junior Senior Division Showcase – April 17 at 6:30 p.m., April 18 at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

La Fille Mal Gardee & Imagine a World

The Hiland Theater’s Junior and Senior Division will present a unique showcase this year featuring dancers ages 8 to 18. The performance will contain an abbreviated version of the lighthearted comic ballet, La Fille Mal Gardee, and mixed repertoire exploring a variety of imagined worlds. Each show will feature different classes, so make sure to purchase tickets for the performances that include your dancer’s classes. Each class will perform twice. Family pre-sale tickets are on sale now. Public tickets go on sale on March 27.
