Catherine is a native of El Paso, Texas, and loved visiting Santa Fe and New Mexico as a child. Relocating to Santa Fe from New York City in 2022, she is thrilled to live with the vibrant local art scene, multiple cultures, and outdoor activities.
A career educator with over 25 years of classroom and individual teaching experience, Catherine is passionate about children, teens, and adults learning strong reading and writing skills; she maintains a small tutoring practice here in Santa Fe and online with students in other cities. While in New York, Catherine provided pro-bono essay writing workshops for an outreach organization serving student-athletes applying to boarding schools and colleges.
While living in Charlotte, NC Catherine was a trustee of the Charlotte Ballet Company. Later In New York, she was on the education committee at the Joyce Theatre, which hosts the most prominent contemporary dance companies worldwide.
Before teaching, Catherine was a ballet dancer in her hometown of El Paso, studying in New York City and with Ballet West. She initially entered Southern Methodist University as a ballet major but graduated with an English degree. Catherine maintains that growing up in a classical ballet school gave her mental and physical discipline and the risk-taking attitude she calls upon now.
