Dancer Dress CodeÂ
Dress code will be worn as the foundation for performance costuming.Â
We do have a small inventory of dancewear at The Dance Barns for sale, some of the items include: Jazz, Ballet and Tap Shoes as well as tights and LeotardsÂ
Hair must be secured off the face and neck for all classes. Ballet students must wear buns.Â
- Girls Creative Movement:Leotard of any color, any color tights or leggings, shorts/skirt/tutu optional, bare feet, or ballet shoesÂ
- Boys’ Creative Movement:Any color shirt and any color shorts or leggings, bare feet or ballet shoes.Â
- Girls’ Ballet:Pink or skin tone tights, black leotard, pink ballet shoes. Â
- Girls’ Jazz, Tap,Musical Theater and Hip-Hop: Black jazz pants or leggings, black leotard or camisole, black jazz or tap shoes, clean sneakers (any brand) for hip-hop.Â
- Girls’ Modern and Contemporary:Black leotard and footless/convertible tights, bare feet.Â
- Boys’ Ballet, Modern, and Contemporary:Black tights, leggings or biking shorts and a white close-fitting shirt. Black ballet shoes, bare feet for modern. Â
- Boys’ Jazz, Tap,Musical Theater and Hip-Hop: Black jazz pants or leggings, a solid white close-fitting shirt, jazz or tap shoes, clean (any color) sneakers for hip-hop. , Â
- Girls Flamenco:Black halter or spaghetti strap leotard, black leggings, black flamenco skirt, character shoes with low heels.Â
- Boys’ Flamenco:Black or white tight-fitting shirt, black leggings or Jazz pants, black folclórico or flamenco boots.Â
- Voice:White shirt, Black pantsÂ
*Girls 12 and older should wear sports bras.Â
*Boys 10 or older should wear a dance belt.Â

Arts In Motion Summer 2026
Dancers will take different disciplines of dance each day of the week during our Summer Program.
Hair must be secured off the face and neck for all classes. Ballet students with long hair must wear a bun.
Please arrive each day in the following uniform:
- Creative Movement: Â
Girls:Â any color leotard, short skirt/tutu optional, any color tights or leggings, bare feet or ballet shoes.
Boys: any color shirt, any color leggings, bare feet, or ballet shoes.. - Pre-Ballet: Â
Girls:Â black leotard, pink or skin tone tights, ballet slippers.
Boys: white shirt and black shorts or leggings, ballet shoes. - AIM | Beginner Ages 7-9: Â
Girls  – Clothes that can get dirty during arts and crafts. Pink or skin tone tights, black leotard for Ballet. Black leggings or jazz pants for Jazz, and Hip-Hop. These can be changed into after Ballet or put on over tights. Clean sneakers (any brand) for Hip-Hop, Black jazz shoes for musical theater, pink or skin tone ballet shoes for Ballet
Boys – Clothes that can get dirty during arts and crafts. black tights, leggings or biking shorts, a white close-fitting shirt for Ballet. Black leggings or jazz pants for Jazz, and Hip-Hop. These can be changed into after Ballet or put on over tights. Clean sneakers (any brand) for Hip-Hop, Black jazz shoes for musical theater, black ballet shoes. - AIM | Intermediate Ages 10-13: Â

These can be changed into after Ballet or put on over tights. Bare feet and footless tights for contemporary. *Girls 12 and older should wear a sports bra
Boys – Black tights, leggings or biking shorts, a white close-fitting shirt black ballet shoes for Ballet. Black leggings or jazz pants for contemporary. These can be changed into after Ballet or put on over tights. Bare feet and footless tights for contemporary. *Boys 10 or older should wear a dance belt.
Additional pieces to have in your dance bag:
- Girls and Boys attending full-day programming: T-shirt and comfortable pants to wear during lunch and outdoor excursions. Sunscreen. Hat.Â
Remember to also bring:
- Water bottle
- Towel
- Snack
