Alex Langley

North Artistic Director

J. Alexander (Alex) Langley is a proud alumnus of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, TX. He went on to study Dance Performance at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA before pursuing his professional dance career.

Alex has performed as a principal dancer with 6 o’Clock Dance Theatre, Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, and Flamenco Black, as a soloist with Ballet Dallas and Dallas Neoclassical Ballet, and as a production cast dancer with Princess Cruises and Holland America Line. He has also performed in regional productions of La Cage Aux Folles, Disney’s TARZAN: The Musical, and Fiddler on the Roof, as well as various industrials like the Mary Kay seminars, television commercials, and such.

With over 15 years of teaching experience under his belt, Alex has given back to the Dallas-Fort Worth community by offering free workshops at local public schools and community centers, and has been invited to teach and choreograph as a guest artist nationwide. He has worked as an outreach teaching artist with AT&T Performing Arts Center, Broadway Dallas, and Texas Ballet Theater. His passion for music and a foundation of classical ballet technique heavily influence his study (and pedagogy) of Jazz dance and, combined with his love for his Afro-Latino heritage, heavily inform his choreographic work. His dances have been performed by companies such as Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, Anita N. Martínez Ballet Folklorico, and 6 o’Clock Dance Theatre. Alex has also been fortunate enough to choreograph regional musical productions like Disney’s Newsies, RENT: School Edition, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, La Cage Aux Folles, and Black Nativity. Alex joined NDI New Mexico in 2023.
