Allyssa Pehrson began dancing with Brigham Young University’s (BYU) Children’s Creative Dance program at 3 years old. She joined BYU’s Young Dancemakers Company at age 8 and danced with them until age 18. She attended BYU and studied Music Education with a minor in World Dance. While an undergraduate student, Allyssa was privileged to perform with BYU’s International Folk Dance Ensemble dancing in national and international venues. She also taught dance classes and at summer dance camps at BYU throughout her college years. After graduating in 2017, Allyssa taught full-time in the Provo City School District as a music teacher, teaching general music classes and a before-school choir. Allyssa graduated with her Master’s of Music Education in April 2020 from BYU. Allyssa moved to Albuquerque with her family in 2019 and began a private music studio in her home. She has taught recreational folk dances for homeschool groups and church groups and is excited for this new teaching experience at NDI.
