Early Steps (Ages 3-7)

Early Steps programming at the Hiland is designed to provide a safe space for children to be introduced to dance, music, and movement through play, while improving locomotor, developmental, and social skills. Play, as an integral part of creativity, inspires children at this age to share, compare, and dare! Each themed week-long camp includes a movement class, a snack, and a craft!

Arts In Motion Discovery (Ages 8-15)

Youth will “discover” their own artistic interests and voice through an introduction to a wide variety of art forms. These weeklong camps, which can be half-day or full day, are designed to spark creativity and curiosity through student-centered, nourishing instruction and exploration. Discovery Camps

First Session: June 2-6: Dance & Circus Arts with Wise Fool

Morning Dance Camp: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Classes in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, breaking, tap, flamenco, and more!
Afternoon Circus Arts Camp with Wise Fool: 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Ariel work, stilt walking, puppetry, and more!

Second Session: July 7-11: Musical Theatre, Dance & Cooking

Morning Musical Theatre Camp: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Acting, dancing, and singing
Afternoon Dance & Cooking Camp: 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Students will rotate through a variety of dance classes and cooking classes and workshops

Third Session: July 14-18: Hip-Hop & Filmmaking with Vault Studios

Morning Hip-Hop Camp: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Afternoon Filmmaking with Vault Studios: 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Arts In Motion Continuum (Ages 11-17)

The Continuum programming at The Hiland Theater is designed with the more focused dance student in mind. Students will explore and experience a diverse range of movement forms with rigor and depth, in an environment that fosters independent thinking, cultivation of voice through creative process, collaboration and accountability. This program offers resources and a view into the professional dance world for serious dance students at an Intermediate/Pre-Professional level.

Fall 2025-2026 Class Offerings:

Young Children's Division:

Young Children’s Division classes are based on the renowned Dance for Joy curriculum created by Allegra Lillard. The classes support physical, mental, social, and emotional development in young children. They also develop school and life readiness in a joyful and creative environment.

Creative Movement: Ages 3-5

An energetic 45-minute class that gives dancers ages 3-4 a joyful way to experience movement, music, and self-expression at a young age. Classes begin on August 18 and end on March 28. There is no performance for Creative Movement classes.

Primary Classes: Ages 5-8

Primary dance classes are 1-hour classes that are perfect for young dancers looking for an introduction to a variety of dance experiences! Classes begin on August 18 and end on April 9 with the YCD Showcase performance.

Junior/Senior Division

In the Junior and Senior Divisions, children begin the path of pursuing training in a variety of dance disciplines. Advancement to the next level is only upon recommendation of the current teaching artist. Classes culminate in a joyful and creative Showcase for families and the community to see and celebrate the dancers’ achievements.

Classes begin on August 18 and end on April 19 with the Jr/Sr Showcase performance.

Pre-Professional Division

For children and teens interested in a serious pursuit of advanced dance study, we offer training and performance opportunities that create technical dancers who are multi-talented and proficient in many styles of dance. In addition to advanced senior division classes, dancers on the pre-professional track have opportunities such as pointe and variations, master classes and choreography with guest artists.

Classes begin on August 18 and end on April 19 with the Junior/Senior Showcase performance.
